Lost for words.

Bula Cricket Fiji fans,

Today we suffered another tough loss. This one really hurt though because we played ourselves into a great position for the victory. Alas the bowling department let us down today and I myself am the main culprit. I always try to lead by example and it just didn't happen today. I wish it was different but it was just an awful day (weather and performance both).

The boys are giving their all and trying not to get discouraged by the losses. We are prepared to keep fighting each and everyday and inshallah (god willing) the results will start coming our way. Tomorrow is a rest day, which will help all of us reflect on an individual level and then use that reflection in rectifying our mistakes for the final two games.

The team is also hoping for some decent Malaysian weather. 3 out of the 4 games have been affected by rain, which has left to us having to field on a wet outfield and the ball feeling more like a bar of soap then a cork covered in leather.

Until next time.

tough day in the office.

Bula Supporters,

Yesterday was an extremely tough day for us and we were just thoroughly outplayed by a better team on the day. We have talked about what went wrong as a team and will be looking to improve on the mistakes we made. The bowlers know we need to be more consistent with our length and not bowl loose balls that release the pressure. Batsmen understand that they need to work together and build partnerships to allow for a solid foundation and have wickets in hand.

It was a ugly day weather wise as well. showers throughout the day didnt help the team get comfortable but no excuses, we know we are here for a mission and what we did yesterday was just not good enough. The team is looking forward and waiting for to show the real fiji when we play against hosts Malaysia.

Today is a rest day so we just going to have a morning stretch session and then the rest of the day is for whatever we want to do. I am planning on maybe doing a big of shopping and going to watch a movie to take my mind off cricket before focusing back on the task at hand at our team meeting in the evening.

Hope all is well on your end.

Tournament starts on a great note!

Bula Fiji supporters,

Its 5:30am on Sunday and after a good nights sleep I am looking forward to today's game against Guernsey. It is quite hot in Malaysia, but the humidity is just through the roof. The boys were lucky that they were able to adjust in Singapore, but the heat in the bay area is no where even close to what I am experiencing here.

Our first game against Nigeria ended up as a big win. This game was truly a complete team effort with everyone stepping up either with the bat, ball or on the field. There is still work to be done and mistakes to correct, but the fighting Fijian spirit was there as we have complete faith in each other. Yesterdays hero and players' player award went to Colin Rika. He and Joe Dabea started the recovery that was later finished by Maciu and I.

With the Ball Kiti was on song. Moving it away late and leaving the Nigerians clueless. I was able to generate good pace and bounce but the bounce worked against me as two deliveries that nipped back in and ruled to be going just over the stumps.

Then came old man Iniasi to work his magic. The dismissal of the Nigerian batsmen gill was an example of perfect off spin bowling. Lured the batsmen forward and went through the between bat and pad for an easy stumping. I told him my footmarks will help :D. It was a really testing spell which shows the type of wickets we are playing on. After the early assistance for the pacers these clay wickets are designed for the slow bowlers and there is alot of turn on offer. Even the skipper turned balls at a 90 degree angle. The funny thing was skip was more confused with the turn than the batsmen.

Finally saki came in and was fired up! good to see as bowled the right channels and was rewarded with 2 late wickets. Team fielding was right on song with everyone giving their all out there, maciu and whisky both had great days with a number of catches ( and 1 tag team catch as well).

Boys were happy to get the win, but know that this is only the start of the mission. 5 more games to go and we want to see 5 more W's. We love all the support and well wishes you send our way!

Till next time

1 week to go

Bula blue supporters! I hope all is well in your part of the world. There is just over a week to go before the first ball will be bowled in the world cricket league and boy am I anxious. I just really want to get out there and play and do Fiji proud. I know the boys are probably going through a rigorous training regime in Singapore to get them ready, and I wish I was there with them. Unfortunately work dictates otherwise, but really looking forward to catching up with them next week.

As the tournament progresses, I will try to regularly update this blog with whats going on, so you all can feel that much closer to your team. Fow now I just want to say that all the support that we are getting via facebook posts, texts, emails etc... is greatly appreciated and we will all do our very best to make you proud!

Until next time
Take care
Catch up soon.
